Description:
Naruto: The Broken Bond is an action title developed by Ubisoft that merges elements of strategy. In the title you control a squad with three ninjas and must fight enemies from the animated series. Besides Naruto, the player can also control Neji, Shikamaru and Sasuke.
Each of the characters will have specific skills. Naruto, for example, can create clones of himself and use them to build a human bridge. Neji senses danger and can notify their partners of evil to come. The skills may also be used together to achieve goals and areas of difficult access.Sasuke already has several differences compared to other characters. The protagonist has a history quite distinct from others, as well as distinctions in abilities and even the gameplay. Traces of Sasuke will be related to internal conflicts experienced by the CHARACTERS, which provides a nice feature for the title.

Namco Bandai's unrelenting barrage of Naruto-licensed games continues with Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2. It's been roughly nine months since the original Uzumaki Chronicles hit the US, and though the sequel features a few new bells and whistles, these do little to mitigate the fact that the combat's too simple and too easy to be particularly entertaining.
The threat faced in Uzumaki Chronicles 2 stems from the Shirogane clan, a nearly extinct group of ninjas that specializes in puppet mastery. In an attempt to release their master puppet from an ethereal prison, the remaining clan members have been savaging the countryside with their puppet army while looking for a set of mystical orbs. It's not a bad setup for a brawler like this, given that the puppets are basically robots, and robots are some of the finest cannon fodder you'll find. However, once it's up and running, you'll be constantly tormented with cutscenes of characters standing around and talking, all of which seem to drag on forever. Nothing terribly exciting ever happens during these cutscenes, and even the voice actors sound bored. Fortunately, you can skip these sequences without much consequence. Your mission objectives are always spelled out for you, and they usually just involve beating everyone up anyway.

Naruto Uzumaki, ninja-in-training and container of the nine-tailed demon fox, brawls his way through countless ninjas, bandits, monkeys, and more in Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles for the PlayStation 2. There have been a number of straight one-on-one Naruto fighting games released in the US over the past few years, so this single-player action game, which usually pits you against a number of enemies at once, is a nice change of pace. The combat is accessible enough, and the game's unique skill-customization system can appeal to one's obsessive tendencies. A lack of variety both in the missions you take on and the actual combat, though, hurt the game's broader appeal. Uzumaki Chronicles sees Naruto and his fellow Leaf Ninja trainees having their skills tested with more-serious missions as the more experienced ninjas of Leaf Village find themselves busy with the threat of invaders. The setup is quick and dirty, rightfully assuming that the player is already familiar with the characters and settings. The game features a nonlinear mission structure, allowing you to choose from a number of available missions at your base of operations in Leaf Village before heading out into the overworld. Your travels across the land are presented with a large static map like you'd expect to see in a traditional Japanese RPG. Also like in a traditional Japanese RPG, you'll have random encounters with a variety of villains while traveling across the overworld, and you'll have to clear the area of enemies before you can continue on your mission. The missions are often self-contained tasks, such as delivering supplies, foiling bands of thieves, helping a local shopkeeper, and training even younger, less experienced ninjas. They can occasionally seem kind of petty, but there's some good variety between the individual plots. When you get down to it, though, you'll regularly find yourself surrounded by enemies and forced to clear the area, just like in the random encounters, and it gets old well before the six or so hours it should take you to get to the end.

Like its plucky eponymous hero, Ultimate Ninja 3 gets by on sheer charm. Unlike the boy ninja, its ninjutsu is weaker than watered-down ramen. No, it isn't much of a fighting game. But it's so faithful to its source material, it should nevertheless provide hours of good entertainment to fans of the series. It has two short single-player modes, pitch-perfect writing, flawless voice acting, spit-shined graphics, and a surprisingly entertaining dating system.

The quality of the Naruto games that Namco Bandai has been cranking out over the past few years hasn't come close to matching the quantity, though last year's Naruto: Ultimate Ninja was the rare exception. The core one-on-one ninja-fighting action favored speed and simplicity over depth, and some distinct graphical theatrics made it a fun, ridiculous game to watch. Twelve months later, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 delivers much the same experience, though the cast of playable characters has been expanded and the story mode streamlined. These changes are sure to be enough to please many Naruto fans, though they might not impress anyone else.
